Peoples Gas, Xchange Chicago and SDI Presence have announced a strategic partnership through which Peoples Gas will bring on 20 Xchange Chicago-trained IT apprentices over the next two years. The apprentices are currently based at SDI Presence, an IT and consulting firm that is a minority business enterprise.
The apprenticeships at Peoples Gas offer strong salaries, full benefits and the potential to be hired into full-time roles.
“Elevating economic opportunity across every part of Chicago is a key priority at Peoples Gas,” Peoples Gas Vice President Polly Eldringhoff said. “We’re excited to meet our IT needs while offering good-paying tech jobs to people who live on the city’s South Side. It’s a win for our customers, these talented young professionals, the community and our overall business. The first group of apprentices coming in is already impressing us.”
Xchange Chicago has been gaining momentum as a partner to leading Chicago corporations eager to fulfill IT needs while fueling economies on Chicago’s South and West Sides with direct action. SDI Presence is becoming an anchor tenant at Xchange Chicago’s 28,000-square-foot building located at 7247 S. Chicago Ave. With retrofit construction currently underway, the building is set to open in January.
